Hair loss, in both men and women, has been described in the literature for many centuries.
However, it is only during the last 40 years that scientifically based treatments have made good progress at halting and in some cases reversing progressive hair loss.
Hair loss usually has multiple underlying issues, and therefore hair loss is not the result of a single problem. Yet, most Drs. are still treating hair loss with one, or at best 2 treatments.
The most known, and widely used medication to improve hair quality is Minoxidil and Finasteride. History and many studies have shown the efficacy of both medications.
Oral Finasteride, however, can possibly produce side effects.
Minoxidil usage as a stand-alone treatment is somewhat effective, however when combined with Finasteride (which is used to reduce the genetic hair problem) the combination works many times better.
Newer techniques, like PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin), have an indirect positive impact on hair cells and the tissue surrounding hair follicles.
PRF, which is similar to PRP, produces Fibrin and is less known in the field of hair restoration at the moment of writing, but potentially has more impact on hair improvement.
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) or leukocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) is a second-generation PRP where autologous platelets and leukocytes are present in a complex fibrin matrix. The intrinsically retained cytokines (a broad and loose category of small proteins that are important in cell signaling. ) on the fibrin mesh imply a long term slow release effect of these biologically active molecules. This matrix helps to keep the platelets and growth factors active for a prolonged period (compared to PRP). This prolonged activity is ideal in an environment of progressive hair loss.
LLLT, or low-level laser treatment has also shown a nice instrument to further enhance hair cell stimulating properties.
Combining multiple hair loss treatments seem to be the logical step fighting progressive hair loss.
Although other medication and treatment exist, the main focus and goal are to create a combination of proven hair loss treatments that work at both the cell level, as well as the tissue surrounding the hair cells.
Dr. Nancy Anthone (Prohairclinic) has developed a new protocol that contains only non-side effects bearing medically-proven solutions for male and female hair loss.
At the time of writing, we have been using the protocol for about 1 year, with over 300 treatments performed.
- PRP combined with PRF
- Minoxidil (5% liquid form)
- Finasteride (Liquid solution only)
We have noticed by an observational study that no adverse effects were reported or noticed. Patient satisfaction is high to very high. Please note that we select patients that have a sufficient number of hair follicles in active phase.

More and or improved ingredients or treatments may be added in the future provided there is medical proof of efficacy.
